Nevada licenses contractors through the Nevada State Contractors Board, and the board maintains a public licence lookup. Anyone can search it, and it takes a minute.
This matters because a licence number printed on a website or a vehicle is just text. The lookup tells you whether the licence is active, what classification it holds, and whether the scope of that classification actually covers the work you are buying.
Do this rather than taking anyone word for it, including ours. A company confident in its licensing has no reason to object to you checking.
Questions that separate good from cheap
Price is the easiest thing to compare and the least informative. These questions tell you more.

Get it in writing, always
A written scope protects both sides. It should say what is being done, what it costs, what is excluded, and what happens if the job opens up into something larger.
The most common source of disputes in this trade is not dishonesty, it is an unwritten assumption about what was included. Drywall repair after an access cut is the classic example: many plumbing quotes legitimately exclude it, and that is fine as long as you knew.
Be careful with pressure
Urgency is sometimes real. A tank leaking from the body, sewage in the house, or water you cannot shut off are genuinely urgent and should be treated that way.
Urgency that appears in the sales conversation rather than in the symptoms is worth pausing on. A repipe recommendation for a house with one leak, a same day discount that expires when the van leaves, or a refusal to put the diagnosis in writing are all reasons to get a second opinion.
On a large job, a second quote is normal and no reputable contractor is offended by it.
