How an installation runs
Check hole count and spacing
A three hole sink and a single hole faucet need a deck plate. Confirming this before the box is opened avoids a wasted visit.
Test the stops
Before anything is disconnected. A stop that will not close changes the job, and it is better to find out at the start.
Remove the old unit
Usually the fiddliest part, because the fixing nuts sit in the least accessible place in the house.
Fit and connect
New faucet set and sealed, new flexible supplies fitted, stops replaced where needed.
Pressure test and check underneath
Run both temperatures, then check every joint under the sink with the cabinet dry, because a slow weep is invisible for weeks.
The supply stop problem
Under every sink are two small valves that nobody touches between plumbing jobs. Sitting unused for years, and in hard water, they seize or fail to seal when finally operated.
When that happens during a faucet swap, the water has to be shut off at the house, and the job now includes replacing the stops. It is a small extra cost and it is worth expecting rather than being surprised by.
It is also a genuine improvement: working stops mean the next repair at that fixture does not involve shutting down the whole house.
Buy for the cartridge, not the finish
The finish is what you look at, and the cartridge is what determines how long you go without calling anyone. A faucet from a line with widely available replacement cartridges is repairable in a decade. A cheap unit with a proprietary part often is not.
That matters more in this valley than most, because hard water works cartridges harder and you are statistically more likely to need one.

Will you have to shut off the whole house?
Only if the supply stops will not close, which is common on older installations. They get tested first.
Does a new faucet fix low pressure?
Only if the old aerator or cartridge was the restriction. If the low pressure is house wide, a new faucet changes nothing.
